Fossils
Several fossils have been scanned with the Xyris 3000 (triangulation laser) and the Xyris 4000 (confocal laser). The colour of the image corresponds to the height of the surface.
Ischnoptilus elegans:
Figure 1 shows Ischnoptilus elegans, right fore- and hind-wings (MNHN-LP-R.51288), related to Odonata (damselfly, dragonfly), Commentry, Allier, France, 300 Mio years (Upper Carboniferous) measured with a Xyris 3000 at a resolution of 481 x 321 points over an area of 24.0 x 16.0 mm.

Epilestes gallica:
Figures 2 to 4 illustrate Epilestes gallica, fore-wing (Ld LAP 110), Odonata (damselfly, dragonfly), Lodeve basin, Herault, France, 270 Mio years (Upper Permian) scanned with a Xyris 3000 at a resolution of 491 x 491 points over an area of 24.5 x 24.5 mm.

Figure 2: Epilestes gallica (to scale)
Figure 2 is to scale, in figure 3 the image is over-amplified in vertical direction by a factor 4.44.

Figure 3: Epilestes gallica (vertical direction is
over-amplified by a factor 4.44)
Figure 4 is equal to figure 2, but shown in a uniform grey.
